Biography
Alice Jackson was born in 1840 in Fawdon, Northumberland, England to Andrew Jackson and Margaret (Scott) Jackson. Her birth was registered in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland in the second quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name ??ate [Scott].[1]
Alice Jackson, daughter of Andrew & Margaret, was christened on 31 May 1840 in Benwell, Northumberland.[2]
In 1841 Alice Jackson (age 1) lived at Benwell Old Engine in St John, Newcastle upon Tyne with her father Andrew (29) and mother Margaret (28).[3]
In 1851 Alice Jackson (age 10, Scholar) lived in Trimdon with her father Andrew (39, Coal Miner), mother Margaret (38, School Mistress), two brothers: Andrew (5, Scholar) and James ([0]), and visitor Ann James (19).[4]
In 1861 Alice Jackson (age 21, House Servant) lived at Eden Street in Bishopwearmouth, Durham in the household of her employer Ann Dawson.[5]
Alice Jackson (age 26, daughter of Andrew Jackson) married Matthew Barron (age 31, son of Thomas Barron) on 14 Mar 1866 in Bishopwearmouth.[6] The marriage was registered in Sunderland, Durham in the first quarter of the year.[7]
In 1871 Alice Barron (age 30) lived in Bishopwearmouth with her husband Matthew (36, Master Mariner) and daughter Jane (3).[8]
In 1881 Alice Barron (age 40) lived at Bramwell St in Bishop Wearmouth with her husband Matthew (46, Pawnbroker), five children: Jane (13), Matthew (9), Thomas (5), Margaret (3), and John (0), mother-in-law Jane Barron (80), and niece Elizabeth Smith (19).[9]
Alice's husband passed away in 1884:
"29 January [1885]. The Will of Matthew Barron late of 20 Bramwell-street Sunderland in the County of Durham Pawnbroker who died 8 December 1884 at 20 Bramwell-street was proved at Durham by Alice Barron of 20 Bramwell-street Widow the Relict the sole Executrix. Personal Estate £85."[10]
In 1891 Alice Banon (age 51, Living on Her Own Means) lived at 20 Bramwell Street in Bishopwearmouth with her five children: Jennie (23, Dressmaker), Matthew (19, Warehouseman), Thomas (15, Clerk), Meggie (13, Scholar), and John (10, Scholar).[11]
In 1901 Alice Barron (age 60) lived in Sunderland with three of her children: Matthew (29, Manufacturers Clerk Glass), Margaret (23, Drapers Assistant), and John (20, Undergraduate New Collage Oxford).[12]
In 1911 Alice Barron (age 70) lived in Sunderland with her son Matthew (39, Commercial Clerk Flint Glass Manufacturer) and daughter Margaret (33, Saleswoman Drapers).[13]
Alice Barron passed away in 1921, aged 81 years. Her death was registered in Sunderland in the last quarter of the year.[14]
