Biography

Uncertain of birth year. Perhaps 1769 because in theory she would need to be 21 before filing a land claim (1790) as daughter of Loyalist soldier? (Her UE brother Thomas, born 1767, received land grants as a soldier in 1784. Therefore perhaps a different age policy for soldiers vs. children?)

Catherine married ca.1786. Her father James claimed to arrive in North America in 1770. All things considered, she was born either in England ca.1769 or in New York ca.1771 (her younger sister Anne/Nancy was born in New York in 1772).

Death year estimated.

1784: Referred to as "female child over 10" in Gavin Watt's book "Loyalist Refugees", 2nd Edition.

1790: Catherine Jackson Georges (sic) filed a land claim in Ernestown, Ontario, in 1790 [1]

1793: Catherine Jackson & brother William Jackson and Mary Henry are sponsors at the 22 June 1793 baptism of Ann Hollingsworth, daughter of John & Margaret Hollingsworth (records of Rev. John Stuart, Parish of St. George, Kingston):

A later land survey indicates that Catherine Jackson owns land in Loughborough.[2]
