Biography

James was born in 1851. He was the son of J Jackson and Josephine Tomlinson. He passed away in 1920.

The following notes may be helpful to researchers:

Josephine Tomlinson Jackson Hardy stated 4 kids, 3 living in 1910--Jas, Emma Francis, and John Thomas Hardy. "Jas" Jackson [1860 Burnet, TX Census] was actually James M. Jackson. Josephine's statement also means that there was an unknown deceased child, either a Jackson or a Hardy.

James was positively the name of Josephine Tomlinson Jackson's oldest son. Jas in 1860 Census, son of J. T. and Josaphine Jackson. Md., no kids in 1870 Burnet, TX, nextdoor to Sarah's parents. So with this, I have finally uncovered on 6 Feb 2011 the truth of the name of Emeline's brother in the 1860 Census. This is a Family Fact which very nearly became lost forever, and would have been if the name Joshua T. Jackson hadn't been on one of the pictures to connect him to his parents James M. and Sarah E., who were in Hunt, TX in 1900, but by 1910 had returned to James' Home County.

The family picture recovered stated Joshua T. Jackson died March 23, 1908, and it was known that Joshua T. Jackson, b. Apr 1872, married Marinda Ann Tomlinson. Jas aka James M. in the 1880 Census, and Joshua T., his son, born c1871 in Burnet, TX, the same place he was living in 1860.

So Jas=James, not Joshua, and James named his oldest son after his father, perhaps, or maybe Joshua Sanders, his likely father-in-law who lived nextdoor in 1880. In Celeste, Hunt, TX 1900, TX TN TN, he's our man, only the twins at home. As for the twins, William T. [son] was his grandfather's name; Josephine [dau] was his mother's name. Stated Jul 1854 as birth date in 1900 but wife Sarah's did not change from 1855. Month of July is likely correct for birth month, in my estimation, so going with that. Back in Burnet, TX 1910, just he and wife Sarah, lived on Austin Road, Pct. 7. Still in Burnet, TX 1920, stated born in c1852, owned home, lived on Georgetown Road. Not found in 1930, nor Sarah, and am not certain either was deceased.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
