Biography

Edward was born about 1729. He is the son of William Jackson and Mary Williams.

Edward prob. SC 4th Regiment,1775-1776 A Gunner on 10/28/1776.

Edward Jackson was named an heir in the will of William Jackson dated 29 Jul 1775 at Martin county, Province of North Carolina [1]

Mary Jackson to Edward Jackson, For natural love and affection, one negro woman named Violet, one feather bed and furniture, and everything that has or may fall to me at the death of my son Billa Williams Jackson (dec'd), Mary Jackson (seal) Wit: Nathan Mayo, John Hyman, Charles Philpott, on 24 Sep 1783 in Martin County, North Carolina.[2] There may be reason to believe the date and year were transposed in this record, given the two records which follow.

Edward Jackson of Coneto to Mary Jackson of Coneto. 23 Sep 1784, for divers causes and considerations, rents, and leases and tract of land on Coneto and joining Everett's line, including the house where William Watson formally lived, also one negro wench called Violet, one bed, and furniture, during said Mary Jackson's natural life, for the sum of one ear of indian corn annually. Edward Jackson (seal), Mary (M) Jackson. Wits: Jeremiah Cherry, Joshua (x) Cherry.[3] Same day, 23 Sep 1784, Mary Jackson to Edward Jackson, 50 pounds, her dowry in land from husband William Jackson, (dec.), to her son William Jackson for his lifetime. Mary (M) Jackson (seal). Wits: Nathan Mayo, John Lewelling, Cleary Lewelling.[4]
