Jessie was born about 1855 in Barnstaple, Devon, England.
Jessie married Fred Snudden about July 1871 in Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England.
They had seven children, four in the United Kingdom and three in Australia,
The 1881 England Census[2] has Frederick as age 29, listed as a Carriage Maker, living at 18 Gordon St, Pendalton, with his wife, Jessie (Jackson) Snudden age 29, son Frank (age 9)(Francis Snudden), daughter Ada (age 7) and son William (age 6).
Jessie's husband was working in Western Australia, away from his family who were living in Parramatta, New South Wales when he passed away 2 Jul 1898 in an accident in the rail yard at Fremantle, Western Australia. [3]
After the passing of her first husband, Jessie married John Roy, in 1899 in Sydney, New South Wales.[4] Bigamy charges against were brought by one of Jessie's daughters against John Buchan Roy not long after his marriage to Jessie in August 1899. See John Roy profile for the sordid and convuluted details.
Jessie passed away 30 Mar 1907 at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Newtown, Sydney, New South Wales.[5]
There is a possibility that Jessie and Frederick Snudden arrived from England on the ship "Zamora" that warrants further research.
