Henry was born in New York, United States.
He was the son of William Jackson and Mary Troy.
He was a Musician, Company "D" in the Mormon Battalion.Evidence from genealogical records proves that Henry traveled to Utah by 1849. He married Eliza Ann Dibble in Salt Lake City 3 February 1850, which was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration. Further research is needed to determine the year he came to Utah and the name of the company he traveled with.
He passed away in 1864 at the Chesapeake Hospital in Hampton, Virginia, United States and is buried in Hampton National Cemetery, Hampton, Virginia.
He was the son of William Jackson and Mary Troy. He was one of the first Mormons that traveled from New York to Salt Lake City with Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. He was married at the home of Brigham Young who performed the service.
Served in the Mormon Battalion as a musician. Was a rider for a mail service and went back to New York to collect back pay. Was unable get back home to Utah so enlisted in the 1st DC Cavalry and was made 1st Lieutenant. Was wounded and died as a result of the wounds. Buried in Hampton National Cemetery
