Eleanor Jackson was born in about 1783 in Prescot, Lancashire.

Eleanor married George Winstanley on 26 May 1805 at St Nicholas' Church in Liverpool, Lancashire. Both were of the parish of Liverpool; George was a clock pinion maker, Eleanor a spinster.

Their son James was born on 28 Dec 1805, and christened on 9 Feb 1806 at Holy Trinity Church in Liverpool. His father's occupation was recorded as clock pinion maker, and the family's address as St Ann's.[1]

Their son Richard was born on 11 Aug 1808, and christened on 16 Sep 1808 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as pinnion maker, and the family's address as Prescot.

Their son Henry was born on 1 Feb 1811, and christened on 3 Mar 1811 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as pinnion maker, and the family's address as Prescot.

Their daughter Mary was christened on 23 Oct 1814 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as pinnion maker, and the family's address as Prescot.

Another son Henry was christened on 20 Jul 1817 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as pinnion maker, and the family's address as Prescot.

Their son George was christened on 20 Sep 1818 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as pinnion maker, and the family's address as Prescot.

Their daughter Sarah was christened on 16 Feb 1820 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as pinnion maker, and the family's address as Prescot.

Their son John Ellor was christened on 25 Apr 1824 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as pinnion maker, and the family's address as Prescot.

George died in 1836, aged 54. He was buried on 20 Mar 1836 at Prescot St Mary's. His address was recorded as Eccleston.[2]

By June 6th 1841, Eleanor was living in Eccleston with her eldest son James, who was said to be a mechanic, and three young children who she may have been fostering or boarding - Alfred Stone aged 9, John Savage aged 4, and Mary Steward aged 2.

By March 30th 1851, Eleanor was still in Eccleston. Her eldest son James and her youngest son John were both in the household; James was a master watch cap maker and John was a journeyman watch cap maker. John Savage was still living with her, and was working as an errand boy, but the other two children had gone.

By April 7th 1861, Eleanor was living in Holts Lane, Eccleston. Her son James was still single and living with her; he was a "cap and harbour" maker (for watches). John Savage was still boarding with them, and was also working as a cap and harbour maker.
