Biography

Janet (Jackson) Bruce was born on 6 Jun 1609 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, daughter of John Jackson and was christened on 18 Jun 1609.(~1580 - ~1615).^[1]

When Janet was 11 she married Patrick Bruce (1595 - 1655) on 17 January 1621 in Edinburgh.^[2]

When Janet was about 17 she married in 1627 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.

Her children were:

1. Reverend Michael Bruce (~1635 - 1693)
2. Isabella (Bruce) Woods (1640 - 1686).

When Janet was 38 she married on 22 March 1648 in Newtoun, Midlothia, Scotland.

Janet died on 18 Jun 1659 in Edinburgh aged 50.^[3][2]

Research Notes

In a previous version of this profile, she was listed without source as an illegitimate child.

Her marriage date of 17 Jan 1621 would mean she was 11 years old. While not impossible, this does raise questions? Is her birth date wrong? That date comes from a Christening record for Janet Jaksoune, with different parents. (Johne Jaksoune and Rahell Johnestoun)
