Kenneth Sydney Jacobs was born on 5th October 1917 in Gordon, in Sydney's northern suburbs, New South Wales, Australia. He was the son of Albert Sydney Jacobs and his wife Sarah Grace Aggs. [1][2]

He was educated at Knox Grammar School, following which he entered the University of Sydney, graduating Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1938. [3]

Served in the Second Australian Imperial Force 1940-1945
2/4th Light Anti Aircraft Regiment

He enlisted in the Australian Military Force (Militia) in 1939, transferring to the Second Australian Imperial Force (AIF), his nation's all-volunteer expeditionary force for the fast-escalating Second World War (France had capitulated just weeks earlier), on 31st May 1940 at Victoria Barracks, Paddington. His father was listed as next of kin. His final AIF posting was as a Lieutenant with the 2/4th Light Anti Aircraft Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, before being demobilized on 11th February 1945 and returning to the Militia. He resigned his commission in 1948. [4]

Ken was a Barrister and Judge

Following his return from the war, Ken returned to the University of Sydney, where he completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in 1947. Later that year, he was admitted to the New South Wales Bar Association, where he practised as a barrister, and in 1958 was made Queen's Counsel (QC). [3]

Ken married Eleanor Neal on 5th April 1952 in Sydney. [5]

He was a judge of the High Court of Australia. Ken was created Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) on 23rd November 1976 for 'services to law'. [6]

His will was proved in Brighton on 26 Aug. 2015.
