Biography

Virginia was born in 1927. She was the daughter of Henry Jacobs and Josie Bright. She passed away in 2005.

Mom was raised in a religiously and politically aware home. Her father was a Southern Baptist deacon, Training Union organizer/leader and music leader. Her Mother was a lifelong Methodist. She, like her sisters, followed in her father's footsteps regarding church attendance. Both parents were Republicans, so there was no argument there. She learned young to play the piano which gave her many hours of personal pleasure and, later, as a pastor's wife, she usually became church pianist at the churches Dad pastored. She never had much faith in her talent as a musician, but all enjoyed her music and she was actually much better than she gave herself credit for being. Mom was one of those people who never met a stranger. She hugged everyone and told them that she loved them and how good looking they were. She could talk the horns off a billy-goat! Spending time with friends and family, just chatting for hours was her favorite pastime. Mom could be stern on occasion, letting you know exactly where she stood. (She learned that from her mother.) She had some brown eyes that could look a hole through you. Mom loved Dad! They had one of those "Ron and Nancy" relationships like you might see in the movies, but could hardly imagine being real. The longer they were together, the more they loved each other. I can still see them dancing together in the kitchen to the music on the radio even when they were well into their years. Mom loved her boys! We never had the money and things that some kids grow up with, but neither had we any doubt that our parents loved us dearly. Mom was so very loving and affectionate, never leaving any question about how much she cared. Everywhere she went, it was an adventure. Even after she lost Dad, she kept her wonderful, positive attitude, (even through her deep heartache,) and love for everyone she met. Her trips to the doctors and dialysis clinic was only an opportunity to spread sunshine to not only her fellow patients, but the nurses and doctors who cared for her. Her church family always got the same loving treatment. She enjoyed petting the young boys and girls and knew most everybody's name, (when she didn't forget, that is.) She appreciated a good sermon along with good music. Mom loved her Savior with all her heart! Mom was truly a blessing to all she met. _______________________________________
