Biography

Isabella, born about 1818^[1] in New Orleans, Louisiana,^[2] moved to Upper Canada (Ontario), where she and her husband, George Benjamin, raised a large family.^[3][4]

George died in 1864. In the Census of Canada, 1871, Isabella has six children still living at home. Her mother is living with the family as is Mary Brown, a widow who may be a lodger or a domestic servant.^[5]

In the Census of 1901, Isabella was recorded living with her married daughter Hannah Macdonald in Belleville. ^[6]

She died in 1903 in Belleville.^[7]
