Lars Jacobsen Sr was a Latter Day Saint pioneer.

Biography

Lars was born in 1833 in Demark. He was the son of Jacob Larsen and Maria Sorensdatter. He passed away in 1912 in Utah.

Left Copenhagen Denmark on 18 Apr 1857 on the steamer L.N. Hvidt. Arrived in Grimsby on 21 Apr and traveled to Liverpool by rail on the following day.

Traveled on the ship Westmoreland, departing Liverpool on 25 Apr 1857 and arriving 31 May 1857.[1][2]

Joined with the 7th Handcart Company at Iowa City. At Florence, Nebraska Christian Christiansen became the company captain and continued in the position for the rest of the journey to Utah. The Company arrived 15 September 1857 in the Salt Lake Valley.

In July 1865 and May 1866 served in the Utah Territorial Militia participating in the Blackhawk War in Captain Caleb W Haw's Infantry.

In 1883, served a mission for the LDS Church to the Dakotas and Minnesota

Member 70th Quorum Seventies.

1912 Obituary[3]

An old handcart veteran in the person of Lars Jacobson passed away at his residence in Lake View last week. Death was caused by leakage of the heart and general debility.

Lars, son of Jacob Larsen & Marie Sórensdatter, was born on 26 October 1833 and baptised in 1833 in Elling, Hjørring, Danmark.[4] Lars, son of Jacob Jacobsen & Don't Know, died (age 78) on 12 March 1912 in Lake View, Utah, Utah, United States.[5]
