Hi! Are you interested in participating in this year's Spring Clean-a-thon on April 23? We would appreciate all the help we can get even if you only have a moment to clear a few errors. If you are interested you can sign up on the following link, let them know you want to be on Team Nordic Noir, formerly Spic-n-Span Scandinavians:

Hi John,

Thanks self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.

It looks like the Norway Project would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

David ~ Pre-1700 Greeter

Hi David,

Yes, I plan to join the Norway Project and I will continue to develop my branch based on research I have completed so far.

Also, My father is mentioned in a genealogy report that was written in 1951 by Hauser, William Moore, "The Ancestors of William Moore Hauser III from 1588 to 1946." The Detroit Society for Genealogical Research, 1951. It is in the Library of Congress. How can I find out if it is referenced anywhere in Wikitree and if it is considered a credible source. There is a two volume book by Passmore written in 1897, also in the Library of Congress, that chronicles The Ancestors of Andrew Moore. The two sources focus on the same family and Hauser should have done a much better job footnoting his research and giving credit to Passmore since he obviously borrowed from his predecessor.

I have a pdf copy of Hauser's report and can that be placed on Wikitree for reference? Some of Hauser's conclusions lack a proper source so maybe it is not the source but possibly can function as a reference to be verified.

Best Regards,

Jay Jacobsen

Hi John, Thank you for the questions!

You can create an "Also see:" section under the sources header and references tag and add the pdf copy of Hauser's report. I would say if you find a source for the information at "The Detroit Society for Genealogical Research, 1951. It is in the Library of Congress". Sources <references /> See also:

Do you have a free account with FamilySearch.org it is a great website to find sources with citations for birth, death, census records and more?

Thanks for signing the Honor Code, John. I hope you discover as much about your family as I have about mine over the last several years.

One of our mentors created a tutorial for the GEDCOMpare process that I found very helpful. I hope that you will too.
