Biography

Brian Jacques is Notable.

Brian Jacques was born in Lancashire, England.

James Brian Jacques was born on 15 June 1939 to James Alfred Jacques and Ellen (Ryan) Jacques in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. [1] He was known as 'Brian' to avoid confusion with his father, also James (and a brother later who was also called James).

Father James loved to read, and read many stories to his small son, including 'The Wind in the Willows' (where the story is led by talking animals). Brian discovered that he loved to write, and most of his stories also included talking animals.

"He is known for the very descriptive style of his novels, which emphasize sound, smell, taste, gravity, balance, temperature, touch, and kinesthetics, not just visual sensations." [Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Jacques]

Brian Jacques wrote the acclaimed series of children's books: Redwall. The books cover the triumph of good over evil as seen by the talking animals of which he was so fond. Even the structures such as castles, bridges, and ships, are built to accommodate the sizes of animals such as mice, badgers, moles, and squirrels. Some of the main characters are based on his own family: Gonff, the Prince of Mousethieves is based on Brian himself, Mariel is based on his granddaughter, while Constance the Badgermum is based on his maternal grandmother.

Brian lived in Liverpool, and died there, too - of an aortic aneurysm on 5 February 2011.
