Lucy James was born 21st June 1895 at Crafers, South Australia, with her birth being registered in the Adelaide district. She is the daughter of David Samuel Price James and Margaret Helena Nestor. [1] [2]
On 17th April 1913, when she was 17, Lucy married 20-year-old Percy Silver Steele at the Presbytery, Semaphore, South Australia. Their marriage was registered in the Port Adelaide district, with their fathers recorded as John Steele and David James. [3] [4]
Lucy Steele passed away 27th April 1959, aged 63. She was interred in the Cheltenham Cemetery in the grave of a daughter-in-law, Gwendoline Eva Steele, who had predeceased her in 1942. The online burial record states their previous residences were Semaphore, SA. Percy joined them in 1980.[5]
