PARENTS: Father, Jonathan James Mother, Mary Bandy
MARRIAGES (2) Spouse, Agnes G Chambers
Marriage: 18 January 1841 Lynchberg, Bedford Co., VA
Spouse: Mary Ann Howard or Hoard
Marriage: 24 September 1849 Bedford Co., VA
NOTES (1) I think Joel James and my great grandfather were related but I am not sure how. John James married Agnes Chambers in Virginia and later traveled to Texas. He died during the Civil War. John and Agnes had a son named Joel Middleton James. I have heard a similar story about Indian blood in this branch of the family. My grandmother said she heard that the Chambers family did not allow John James into their house because of that and so they moved to Texas. (around Ladonia)
Fact 1: died while on duty as member of the Home Guard on the Red River during the civil war.
