Joseph was baptized on February 25, 1827, at Stow Longa, Huntingdonshire, England.[1] He was the 6th child of Thomas and Charlotte James. Joseph's father was a farm laborer.
Joseph was eleven years old when his mother, Charlotte, died.
On December 26, 1848, Joseph married Mary Cox at Covington, Northamptonshire, England. [2] and, according to the to the 1861 census,[3] Joseph was from the parish of Shelton in Bedford when he married.
Joseph and Mary lived at St Neots, Kimbolton, Huntingdonshire. Joseph was listed on the census as an agriculture laborer.
The 1881 census listed Thomas as a farm laborer and the family lived at Stow Longa, Huntingdonshire. They had six children at that time: Thomas, Mary, Lucy, Charlotte, George, Sarah, Joseph.[4]
Joseph passed away before on July 1, 1910.[5]
