Jane (James) Mangham was born in Yorkshire, England.

Jane (James) Mangham lost two sons in the Lundhill Colliery Explosion on 19-Feb-1857

Jane was born in 1812. Her parents were George and Joice James. She was christened on 28 March 1812 at Wentworth, Yorkshire. [1]

Jane married Charles Mangham on 21 Sep 1830 at the Cathedral Church of St Peter & St Paul, Sheffield, Yorkshire. [2]

In 1841 Charles and Jane lived at School Lane, Wath upon Dearne, Yorkshire. Charles' occupation is Collier. Children in the family were William, George, Sarah and Aaron.[3]

In 1851 they lived at Mangham Lane, Wath upon Dearne, Yorkshire. There were now three more children in the family, Joice, Hannah, and baby Leonard. Charles was a fishmonger.[4]

On 9 February 1857, Charles and Jane's sons William and George were killed in the Lundhill Colliery Explosion. William's body was recovered in May, but George was not found until September. Both were buried at Wath upon Dearne, Yorkshire. [5][6]

In 1861 Charles and Jane were still living at Mangham Lane, Wath upon Dearne, Yorkshire and Charles is working as a Coal Miner. Living them is their daughter Hannah, and grandson Samuel, whose father George had been killed in the mining disaster. Also living them are three young men described as Servants, but working as Coal Miners. They were James Howson, James Barker and Thomas Howson. [7]

Charles passed away in 1866, age 59.[8]

In 1881 Jane lived at Cemetry Road, Wath upon Dearne, Yorkshire. Living with her was her daughter Hannah, son in law, Thomas Howson and their six children. There were also two boarders, Stephen Cawthorne and Arthur Hargraves and three visitors, George and Alice Freeman and seven year old Joseph Bramhall.[9]

Jane passed away in 1883, age 71. [10]
