Robert Battle
The Robert James who married Margaret Clarke was almost certainly the one baptized 16 Jul 1554 in Rockland St. Peter (their marriage was also recorded on the same date in that parish). He was a son of Thomas and Margaret (Bradshaw) James, and an uncle of the immigrants Philip and Francis James. Robert and Margaret James had children baptized in Rockland St. Peter from 1582/3 to 1594/5. Margaret (Clarke) James was buried in Rockland St. Peter 3 Apr 1608; I haven't been able to find Robert's burial or probate record.
