Moses James is a part of US Black heritage.

Moses James was born into slavery about 1819 in Georgia, USA. Moses united with Sarah "Sallie" "Sally" (Unknown) and they had the following children:

Laurence James (1849) Jacob James (1853) Perry James (1856) Lorenzo James (1859) John James (1860) Milly James (1861)

Moses is 44 years old, born in Georgia, and recorded in the 1870 census living in Jasper, Hamilton County, Florida with his wife and children. He is a farm laborer who cannot read nor write. His post office address is White Springs. In 1880 he is 60 years old and listed in the census of Precinct 2, Hamilton, Florida, living with his wife and children.

Moses James passed away in October of 1884 from inflammation of the bowels in [Jasper] Hamilton County, Florida, USA, at the approximate age of 65 years old. The 1885 Mortality Schedule records this fact. It is not know were Moses is buried.
