Sydney Herford James was born in 1874 in Collingwood, Victoria, Australia ^[1]

James, Sydney Herford 24y (father Charles James) to Walesha Augusta Deimel 20 y (father Julius Deimel) at residence of Mr Deimel of Burnside on 5 July 1898 ^[2]

By 1903, Sydney was enrolled to vote in the Kalgoorlie district of WA

Notice is hereby given that I, Sydney Herford James, of Boorara, the undersigned, have made application, this day for a Gold-mining Leaise, under the provisions of 'The Mining Act, 1904,' and the regulations' there- under, of ground to be known as Weuska containing 24 acres, commencing 12 miles south of Bulong, datum peg, thence north 20 chains, thence east 12 chains, thence south 20 chains, thence, west 12 chains todatum peg. . As witness my hand at Bulong this 30th day of May, 1905. One wonders if the claim name should actually be Waleska? ^[3]

He also applies for a Publican's Licence, under the name Boorara Hotel in Boorara, East Coolgardie ^[4]

In 1909, Syd had returned to Victoria, being enrolled in the electoral district of Batman, and in 1913 the district of Melbourne Ports

Sydney died in 1954 at Footscray, Victoria, Australia ^[5]
