John James immigrated from England to America. John is named in the Will of his father-in-law, Thomas Norman:

• STAFFORD COUNTY VA DEED & WILL BOOK 1699 - 1709; THE ANCIENT PRESS p. 9 " I doe by these presents give my son in law JOHN JAMES on to my late wife ELIZABETH NORMAN black yearling heifer .. March 8th 1699. Thomas Norman Recorded 15th March"
