James Jameson was born in about 1802 in Ashton in Makerfield, Lancashire.

James became a carter. He married Margaret Tunstall on 9 Nov 1829 at St Oswald's Church in Winwick, Lancashire. James was living in the parish of Childwall at the time, Margaret was living in Winwick. The witnesses were William Pimblett and Thomas Walker.
