Jessie was the eldest child of James Jamieson and his wife Jean Ogilvy. She was born in parish of Eassie when her father worked on the farm of East Nevay. In 1841 she is shown as nine year old Jess living with her parents and siblings at Muirhead of Baldovie in the parish of Brechin near to Montreathmont forest when her father was a sawyer.[1] She left home to work in neighbouring parishes. In the 1861 Census she is recorded as visiting the family of James Robertson, contractor, at 131 River St., Brechin. In 1863 she married John Ramsay (1831-1917) who was a blacksmith. They had a son John Jamieson Ramsay born 30 Nov 1863 in Arbroath. The family moved to Aberdeen and lived at 23 Virginia St. in 1881. At Aberdeen on 25 Jan 1882, her son died aged 19 years. He was buried at Arbroeth Western Cemetery on 30 Jan 1883 at lair Q145. They returned to Arbroath and lived in 7 West Keptie Street where John had his blacksmith's workshop. Her niece, Jane Jamieson (age 23) resided there as a domestic servant.[2] She and her sister who also lived in Arbroath frequently exchanged visits with their brother, John, when he farmed Peebles and Mid-Peebles farms at Colliston. She died aged 82 at 7 West Keptie St. on 28 Jan 1915. She was buried on 1 Feb 1915 at Arbroath Western Cemetery in lair Q143. John survived her for two more years.
