Hugh Jameson (60) is on the 1871 census with wife Jessie (53) and their children; Eunice (35.. age wrong either here or on next census), Neil (23), William (21), John (19), Donald (17), Charles (15), Alexander (13) and Mary Ann (9). Also present siblings; Donald (66), Flora (72), and Mary (68).[1] Of note here son Neil is listed as a Law Student.
Hugh Jamieson (70) is on the 1881 census with wife Jessie (64) and it appears brother Donald Jamieson (75), and sister Mary Jamieson (77). With them are Hugh and Jessie's children presumably; Unis (36), William (31), John (28), Charles (25), Alexander (22), and Mary (18).[2] In the following household there is a Godfrey Jamieson (80) with his own family, I assume another sibling.
Catherine MacMaster, daughter of Ronald, married Alexander Jamieson, merchant of Port Hood and Brook Village. He was of the Jamieson-MacLeod family of Broad Cove. They had issue: A. Neil, B. Ronald, C. Leo, D. Augustine, E. Alexander, F. Francis, G. John, H. Joseph, I. Beatrice, J. Stella, K. Janet, L. Winnifred, M. Marie, N. Josephine and O. Jane. Mr. Jamieson is deceased; his widow and family live in the States.[3]
Alexander Jamison (43) is on the 1901 census with wife Catherine (34) and their children; D Neil (10), B Mary (9), J Stella (6), Jannet (5), Ronald (3), Leo Donald (1) and H John (a few months).[4]
Aley Jamisson (52) is on the 1911 census with wife Katie (44) and their children; Neil (21), Beatrice (19), Stella (16), Ronald (14), Janet (13), Leo (12), Gussie (11), Joe (10), Jane (9), Francis (8), Winnie (6), Marie (4), and John (1).[5] Alex is noted as a Trader.
Alexander Jamieson (64) is on the 1921 census with wife Catherine (53) and their children; Ronald (24), Joseph (19), Jane (17), Francis (16), Winnie (15), Marie (14) and John H (11).[6] Here Alexander is noted as a Merchant, while Catherine is Postmistress.
Alexander did business for a time at Port Hood, and afterwards at Brook Village where he now resides, and where he keeps the Telegraph Office and the Post Office. We regret to record that he has had a serious stroke of paralysis recently from which he has not recovered.[7] Alexander Jamieson (64) son of Hugh Jamieson and Jessie MacLeod passed on Sept 23, 1923 due to paralysis.[8]
