Charles Pius Janes was born on June 30, 1834 in Mackville, Washington Co., Kentucky to William Janes and Magdaline "Maggie" (McIlvoy) Janes.
He married Margaret Catherine Kelly.
Together they became the parents of Alice E. Janes, Mary Elizabeth (Janes) Peevey, William Nicholas Janes, and Margaret C. (Janes) Cooney.
He fought for Confederacy during the Civil War, enlisting on May 6, 1862 at Richmond, Texas as a private. He enlisted with three other brothers, John A., William H., and Daniel P. Janes in Co. E, Waul's Legion Cavalry Regiment, Texas on Jan. 1, 1863. He was promoted to 5th Sergeant. The regiment was mustered out May 1865.
He passed away on Dec. 7, 1910 in Waco, McLennan Co., Texas[1] and was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Waco, McLennan County, Texas.
