By 1884 George had left the marital home and Agnes had applied for child support. Agnes placed an advertisement in the local paper requesting that George return home or she would remarry. [3]
Agnes did remarry but not till 1904 when she married Anders Olsen. [4]

George Hinton, bootmaker, was found guilty of having deserted his two young sons, George Charles and John Henry. He was ordered .to pay 15s weekly towards their support for twelve monthls. together with 6s 6d court costs; first payment next Thursday.
