Elizabeth Jane" was a common name around Trinity Bay between approximately the dates of 1830-1865. There were several births of Elizabeth Jeynes, Jeans, or Janes in Trinity/Conception Bay in the 1820s. One RootsWeb profile suggests this Elizabeth is the daughter of a John Janes, b. 1791[2], but it is difficult to be certain.
His wife, Elizabeth (Janes) Benson, also a native of Newfoundland, died January 1, 1914, aged eighty-seven years. They were the parents of six children:
1. William, lives at Grates Cove, Newfoundland.
2. Gideon, lives at Carbonear, Newfoundland.
3. Naomi, married Willis Moores, a carpenter, resides in St. John's.
4. Julia, married Joshua Benson, her fourth cousin, and resides in Saskatchewan, Canada.
5. Elisha, of whom further.
6. Eli, deceased; was a carpenter by trade.

Janes-968 and Janes-543 appear to represent the same person because: same name, same spouse name, same children names, birth year on 968 just an estimate
