Biography

Alexis Janis was born about March 1779 and baptized at 4 months of age Alexon Janis, the son of Michel Janis and Marianne Benoit.[1]

He wed Constance Peloquin, the daughter of Jean Baptiste Felix Peloquin and Marie Benivenu on 15 January 1810 at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas.[2]

He appears to have died sometime before the 1840 census as Constance Janis is listed alone with a household of younger people.[3]
