Jonas was born on 24 February 1797 in Luttra, Västergötland, Sweden.[1] He was the son of Jan Andersson and Maria Bengtsdotter.[2] He was baptized on 26 February 1797.[3]
He married Brita Pettersdotter on 11 April 1819 in Falköpings stadsförsamling, Västergötland, Sweden.[4]
He was a soldier in the Skaraborgs regemente (Skaraborg Regiment), Vilske Company.[5] He enlisted in 1823 and was discharged in 1840.[6]
