Samuel Jaques was born in about 1791 in Eccleston, Lancashire.

Samuel married Jane Porter on 13 Jul 1812 at Farnworth Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Both were of Farnworth near Prescot; Samuel was a watch tool maker, Jane a spinster. The witnesses were William Porter and Ann Porter.

Their daughter Jane was born on 17 Oct 1812, and christened on 15 Nov 1812 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as toolmaker, and the family's address as Prescot.

Little Jane died in 1814, and was buried on 29 Nov 1814 at Prescot St Mary's. Her age was recorded as 2, and her address as Eccleston.

Their son William was christened on 5 Jan 1816 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as toolmaker, and the family's address as Eccleston.

Their son Thomas was christened on 12 Jul 1818 at St Helens Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as tool maker, and the family's address as Eccleston.

Samuel died in 1852, and was buried on 24 Sep 1852 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. His age was recorded as 63, and his address as Eccleston.

Two possible baptisms listed on Lancashire OPC:

  • 10 Oct 1790 (son of William & Mary)
  • 8 May 1791 (son of James & Jane)

Both at Prescot St Mary's, and the fathers were both watch tool makers of Eccleston.
