Internal analysis shows that some info is based on local histories by Hardesty, Cole and Laidley. However, some children are attributed to the wrong parents. Lacks information on several Jarrett families.]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James E. by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James E.:

Haven't done a thorough check but my hunch is that the James Garrett mentioned on Mud River in Cabell Co is James Garrett who md. Nancy Ray. He was son of David, grandson of James of Greenbrier. Grandfather's probate mentions children of David Jarrett of Cabell Co [James, Catherine, Matilda, Mary, Elizabeth, Asenia, William, and Delilah (Rebecca?)] Court case found in the Greenbrier Co, WV Chancery Court records, Box 155. ) 5 documents in that file deal specifically with David "son and heir of James Jarrett Senr dec'd" and/or his heirs, showing them to be living in Cabell Co, or out of state by 1842. Check Garrett-1846. James E. Jarrett, son of Owen, is always in Kanawha Co records, not Cabell.

During family research in Cabell County, I ran into this land sale that mentions James Garrette. Cabell County was formed in 1809 from part of Kanawha County, making me wonder if this might be your James Jarrette?

On February 20, 1841, Anderson Roberts and his wife, Jane sold land near the main fork of the Mud River to James Garrett for $335.<ref>Cabell County Deeds, Book 8, p 21, Huntington, Cabell County, (West) Virginia</ref>

Jarrett-67 and Jarrett-1359 appear to represent the same person because: The dod, is the same, The birth is similar, Unlikely that the parents had 2 sons with the exact name.
