Biography
Alfred Jarvis was born in Woodchurch, Kent, England.
Alfred Ernest Jarvis was born about 11 Apr 1835 in Woodchurch, Kent, England to parents Harry Kingsnorth Jarvis and Selina MacKenden. His family immigrated to Australia and he was christened on 5 Sep 1841 in Prospect, New South Wales, Australia in the St Bartholomew Church of England. [1]
He married firstly Emma Matilda Hadley on 17 Jun 1854 in Christ Church, North Adelaide, South Australia. [2]
Children: Emma Selina, Henry, George William, Arthur John, Clara Louisa, Norman Richard, Ada Sarah, Alfred Ernest, Emma Matilda, Reuben Thomas, Ebenezer Augustus, Annie Rebecca.
After his wife Emma died in 1871 he married secondly Jane Eldridge about 1876 in Australia.
He died on 16 Oct 1927 in Wabba, Towong, Victoria, Australia. [3] [4]
Alfred Jarvis, one of the earliest Upper Murray pioneers has died, aged 92 years. He is survived by six sons and three daughters. Mrs Jarvis predeceased her husband by some years. [5]
