Owen Oscar Jay was born in 1886. [1]
In 1891 father Harry Jay is back with Sarah and her family, though the three Lamplugh children have left them. Owen is the only one of the remaining four children to have his name registered at birth at the right time and place. [2]
In 1911 Owen Jay is 24 and serving in India as a private in the British Army in that country. [3]
Owen is recorded in Romford, declaring his birthdate (clearly falsely) as 23 May 1889, and his job as heavy labourer, Gas Mains. He has a wife, Doris, though the marriage does not seem on record, even searching Oscar and Ewen as well as Owen. There is also a possible child redacted as potentially living. [4]
Although we have not found a record of Doris' marriage to Oscar, there is a record of her death as Doris Jay in Romford 1942. [5]
The only marriage on record for Owen is when he is already 56 years old, in 1943 in Romford. London, England. [6]
Owen dies in Romford in 1956, aged 69. [7] It seems likely that his widow, Florence, remarries in 1962 in Stoke Newington. This makes calculation of her age and other details difficult.
