Elizabeth Voss Jay was born on April 22, 1766, in White River, Indiana, to Elizabeth Layton, age 20, and William Jay, age 20. She married Thomas Wright on July 28, 1787, in her hometown, White River, Randolph County, IN. They had four children during their marriage. She died in October 1803 in Newberry, South Carolina, at the age of 37, and is buried in the Bush River Quaker Cemetery, Newberry, Newberry County, South Carolina.
