Biography
Birth
- No record has been found of the birth of John M. Joy. According to his marriage record, he was 22 years old in September 1848 and was the son of Benjamin and Fanny Joy.[1] The 1865 Massachusetts State Census shows him as 39 years old and says he was born at Montville, Maine.[2] Based on his age at his death from his gravestone, he was born about October 1825.

Death
- A gravestone at the Saint Mary's Cemetery in Newton Lower Falls, Massachusetts, says that John M. Joy died on 26 Jan 1870 at the age of 44 years, 3 months.[3]
