William Jay was born about 1832 Akenham Suffolk, between Apr and Jun in 1852 he married[1] Susan Taylor(b.1832 Wattisham Suffolk)[2] between Apr and Jun in 1852 near Ipswich, Suffolk, England. Together they had 7 children. Btn Jan and Mar of 1868, he remarried, Anna Maria Ashby in Mutford Suffolk, England. [3]

In 1841, he is living at home in Akenham, Suffolk, England, with his mother and father John and Mary , his brothers John (b. 1824 - 1829), Henry (b.1827), George (b.1839), Robert (b. 1838), and his sister Elizabeth (b. 1829). [4]

In 1851, he is living at home in Akenham, Suffolk, England, with his mother and father (John b. 1801 Creeting Suffolk, and Mary (Brunning) b.1798 Witnesham Suffolk) and his father in Law Daniel Brunning(1771), his brothers Henry (b.1827), George (b.1839), Robert (b. 1838), and his sister Sarah (b. 1842). He is working as an Agricultural labourer.[5]
