Biography
From Hawkins:
" 12. MARY4 HAWKINS, daughter of Joseph3 (3) and Mary (Biggs) Hawkins, was born about 1708. She married on Feb. 3, 1726, Stephen Jayne, son of William Jayne of Bristol, England, and Setauket, and his second wife Mehitable Jenners. He was born April 15, 1700, and died Nov. 1, 1774. They lived at Setauket, L. I.
Children (surname Jayne):
i. Stephen,5 b. 1727; m. Amy Davis; d. May 11, 1791.
ii. Robert,5 b. 1728; m. (1) Jane Williams; (2) Jemima Tooker-Hulse.
iii. John,5 b. 1730; m. Mary Smith; d. 1790.
iv. Susanah,5 b. 1733; m. Robbins; d. March 28, 1807.
v. James,5 b. 1736; m. Catherine VanCott, April 3, 1758; d. Dec. 20, 1814.
vi. Hannah,5 b. ; m. Vincent Jones.
vii. Micaiah,5 b. ; m. Mary Jayne. "
There is some confusion concerning Stephen's mother, Ralph Clymer Hawkins lists her as William's second wife, Mehitable Jenners;
FAG Memorial 7135051 lists William's wives as "1st ? Perkins, 2nd Anna Biggs, 3rd Ann Jennings, 4th Mehitable Jenkins";
Mehitable's FAG entry Memorial 82902792 states: "The "Widow" Mrs Mehitavle (Unknown) JENKINS, married abt 1694, to William (De Jeanne) JAYNE, as his 4th Wife. ..8. Only Son: Stephen,1 JAYNE, NY. *1700-1774 a74yrs NY. m. *1726 NY. Mary HAEKINS,"
I found no indication that she was a Hawkins; Stephen's wife was a Hawkins.
