Biography

John George was born July 29th 1785 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia to J. Christopher Jeanperrin and Mary Catherine Dauphinee, and was baptised October 2nd 1785 at St. John's Anglican Church.[1] Over time, he used the name George Perrin (the surname his siblings also shortened to); he also was recorded with the surname Perrem and similar spellings.

George married Mary McClinchy in 1802 in Halifax County.[2]

George and Mary are confirmed to have had at least 2 daughters together; Ann, born about 1805, and Margaret, born in 1807.[3]

At the time of daughter Ann's marriage in 1824, George and Mary were described as "of Herring Cove" (Halifax County).[4]

Research Notes

The marriage bond was cosigned by Michael Ryno, who was born in Lunenburg as George was, and is thought to be living in Herring Cove at that time, so perhaps George and Mary were living in Herring Cove throughout the period. No Halifax County deed records for them have been found to corroborate.

His date and place of death are unknown. He is not found on the 1827 or later Nova Scotia censuses in Halifax County, so perhaps they moved away, or one of them died young.
