William, son of William and Hannah Darlington Jefferies first married Ann Woodard about 1784. She was the daughter of Richard and Hannah Taylor Woodward. He then married Martha Mendenhall on July 1806. She was the daughter of Joseph (The Fighting Quaker) Mendenhall and his wife Jane Collins .
Note: It was once believed that William served in the Rev. War, but the DAR has memberships on hold until new information is presented. I actually read that its now believed that he paid someone to serve in his place, which was legal during that period.
