James was born in 1855. He was the son of William Jeffers and Ann McFadden.
On 20 February 1856 William (27) a labourer & Ann Jamphrey (26) with children Rachel (2) & James (1), all from Armagh, emigrated from Ireland from Plymouth, England on board Fairlie and they arrived in Melbourne, Australia on 4 June 1856. [1]
The Jeffers moved around Victoria, daughter Jane was born in Williamstown in 1857, in 1861 Isaac was born in Elphinstone and 1864 they lived in Pleasant Creek, where David was born.
James Jeffers married Bridget Connor in 1874 in Victoria, Australia. [2]
Children
The family moved to Queensland where they ran the Thargomindah Hotel. He passed away in 1888 [3] [4] and was buried at the Thargomindah Cemetery. [5]
