Thomas was born on August 9, 1867 at Straight Fork in Scott County, Tennessee. He was the son of Emsley Jeffers and Elmira Chambers. Thomas married Nannie Bell Botts, after she passed away in 1889 he married Motlany Byrd in 1890 in Scott County. He passed away from a intestine obstruction on July 28, 1954 at Huntsville in Scott County.
