Earl Winston Jeffers, 75, of Rt. 1, Pioneer, died suddenly at his home Sunday evening, May 29, 1994. A lifelong resident of Scott County, he was born in Huntsville on August 7, 1918, and was the son of the late Winston and Ettie Dyer Jeffers. He was a member of the Opossum Rock Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Earl Edward and William Donald Jeffers; three brothers: Arthur, Paul and Burl Jeffers; one sister, Ina Newport and a great-grandson, Mike Jeffers. He is survived by six sons: Russell Jeffers; Rodney Jeffers and wife, Carolyn; Roy Jeffers and wife, Melissa; Roger Jeffers and wife, Lola, Keith Jeffers and wife, Ollamae, all of Oneida; and Robert Jeffers and wife, Rosa, of Louisville, Ky.; Two daughters: Phyllis York and husband, Jimmy Ray, of Grimsley, Tenn.; and Waudean Taylor and husband, Leroy, of Oneida; three sisters: Lena McGhee and Marie Barnes, both of Huntsville, and Vergie of Ohio; one brother, Walter Jeffers of Huntsville; former wife, Evie Jeffers; a special friend, Frona Smith; 26 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. Funeral services were to be conducted Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at the Opossum Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Chambers and the Rev. Chris Day officiating. Special music was provided by the Segal Phillips Family. Burial was to follow in the Opossum Rock Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
