Sylvester was born on October 10, 1925 at Winona in Scott County, Tennessee. He was the son of Sylvester Q. Jeffers and Linda ( Dyer ) Jeffers. He passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 1983 at his home at Winona near the Capital Hill community.

Sylvester Jeffers, Jr., 57, of the Capital Hill community, passed away suddenly Wednesday morning, February 2, 1983, at his home. He was the son of the late Sylvester Q. Jeffers and the late Linda Dyer Jeffers. Survivors include his sister, Mrs. Carl (Ruth) Lawson of Dayton, O.; one niece, Mrs. David (Ondra) Willmon of Peebles, O.; one great-niece, Aimee Willmon; and one great-nephew, Chris Willmon, both of Peebles, O.; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 5, at the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Roger Cecil officiating. Burial followed in the Cook Cemetery in the Winona community. Oneida American Legion Post #136 were in charge of full military honors at the graveside. Participating were: Norman Acres, Milford Burchfield, James Collins, Loyd Goad, Lawrence Hill, Curtis Marcum, Roy Denver Sexton, Odie Posey, and bugler, Faron Thompson. Pallbearers were: Roger Cecil, Edison R. Jeffers, Gary L. Murley, Billy Phillips, Floyd Sexton, and Amon Voiles. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
