Biography

Mary was born on November 12, 1873 at Bull Creek in Scott County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Jasper Jeffers and Elizabeth ( Newport ) Jeffers . She married Andrew Lloyd on May 17, 1890 in Scott County, after he passed away in 1891, Mary married William Burchfield on September 15, 1892 in Scott County. She passed away from chronic nephritis, arteriosclerosis and hypertension on February 12, 1950 at her home in Mountain View in Scott County.

Mrs. Mary Jeffers Burchfield, wife of William Burchfield of Mt. View near Robbins, died at her home there at 2:00 a.m. Monday morning following an illness of several weeks. She was the daughter of the late Jasper and Elizabeth Newport Jeffers and was 76 years of age, having been born on Nov. 12, 1873. She was a splendid woman, a member of Byrges Creek Baptist church, and had a large number of friends. She is survived by her husband, William Burchfield, two daughters, Emma Henry of Robbins and Anna Buckshorn of Cincinnati, Ohio; six sons, Berry Lloyd of Oneida, John Burchfield of Oneida, George Burchfield of Stainville, Esau Burchfield of Robbins, Reuben Burchfield of Barbourville, Ky., and Harlan Burchfield of Robbins; one sister, Mrs. M. D. Lawson of Robbins; and a large number of relatives. Funeral service was conducted by Revs. M. D. Lawson and L. M. Jeffers Wednesday morning at eleven o?clock at the Byrges Creek Baptist church.
