Henry (Harry) Jefferson was George Washington's Team Driver. Harry & his wife Elizabeth came to West Virginia from Alexandria, Virginia.
Henry signed up for service in Alexandria VA. Henry served under Capt George Millan, Virginia Militia August 23 1814 to Sept 20, 1814 during the War of 1812 - a total of 29 days. His commander was Col Miner. He also served under Capt. Langstine.
Henry is recorded as living in Alexandria VA in 1814. He is not listed on any tax lists for 1815. Henry came from Alexandria VA to Cabell County with the Jim Dundas family. First time on the tax list was 1820. Henry and Elizabeth moved Cabell County from Alexandria and settled on Wild Cat Creek near Barboursville. On 9-1-1821 he and his wife received a deed for 100 acres of land for and during the natural lives of Henry and his wife Elizabeth. This was actually a lease, for which they paid $100 the first year and $20 per year thereafter. They stayed on this 100 acres for many years but later moved to a farm on Nine Mile Creek owned by his son, Henry Jefferson Jr. In his latter years, Henry moved to Seven Mile Creek and lived with his daughter America and died at her home.
Elizabeth Bushby's mother died on the journey from England and was given a burial at sea. Elizabeth died @ age 97. Her husband Harry Jefferson died January 1872 @ age 98 and both were buried on a farm in Cabell (owner & location known, but best kept private).[1]
His son John Washington Jefferson: The obit of Wash in 1923 said he was a "grand nephew of Thomas Jefferson". "The grandfather of Mr. Jefferson was a brother of the immortal Thomas Jefferson, and the father of Mr. Jefferson was present at Fort Henry [sic] when the Star Spangled Banner was written. The grandfather was also a soldier in the Revolution and caused the boy to be given the middle name of Washington." The children of Randolph Jefferson: Henry does not seem to be one unless he is Field Jefferson. Henry may be the grand son of TJs uncle--that is one of Peter Jefferson's brothers. Any clarification of the relationship would be most welcome, his parents are currently 'Unknown'.

President Thomas Jefferson's father was Peter Jefferson. Field was Peters brother. I am in this line. Field's children were: Peterfield Jefferson, Judith Jefferson, John Robertson Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson, George Jefferson, Mary Jefferson, Phoebe Jefferson, Frances Jefferson I did not find any references for a Henry (Harry) Jefferson. I also looked under other generations.
Kim - The info was transcribed from ancestry.com (see source references), which is notoriously inaccurate. If there's more accurate info then I am most interested in being as accurate as possible. I doubt they had 16 children so I'm removing the parents.
