Circa 1917 he married Mary Archibald, the daughter of William Charles and Alexina Florence (McKay) Archibald of Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Their children included:
Florence Grace jefferson, who married Edward Belfit[2]
Mary died in 1918 from the influenza. In 1922 John remarried Helen Phinney,
the daughter of Ernest Phinney and Gertrude Henrietta Balcom of Lawrencetown[3]
Burton Jefferson, age 40, appears in the 1921 Census with his parents[4], along with Grace and two other family members, Dorothea and Florence, who are similar in age to Grace.
He passed away in 1948,[5], and is buried in Fairview Cemetery in Lawrencetown[6]
