Research

Thomas was baptized 2 Oct 1808 in Nunkeeling.

There is approximately 15 miles between Nunkeeling and Bridlington. The parish had 26 families in 1743 and 22 in 1764. From 173 in 1801 the population rose to 291 in 1841, but had fallen to 217 by 1911 and stood at 224 in 1931, when the area later included in the new civil parish of Bewholme had 303 inhabitants.

There is approximately 13 miles between Nunkeeling and Driffield, which is where Thomas and his family later live according to census records.

Occupation

Thomas was an Inn Keeper of the Ship Inn on Rews Square in Great Driffield, Driffield, Yorkshire, England according to the 1861 census. However, by 1871 he was living on River Head (Langley Arms), Great Driffield and 13 Beverley Road, Great Driffield by 1881. An advertisement in the Driffield Times on 13 September 1879 states that Thomas retired from Langley Arms Brewery and that William England was taking over the business. Also in the Driffield Times 02 June 1883 it suggests that according to his will he was selling the White Horse Inn in Driffield by auction.
