Biography

Grace was born in 1843 daughter of Edward Jeffrey and Grace Tippet. ^[1]

On 30 March 1851^[2] the Jeffery family lived in Illogan, Cornwall, England. Edward Jeffery (29) Copper Mner & Grace Jeffery (32) School Misstress with Grace Jeffery (7), Edward Jeffery (5), Catherine Jeffery (3) & Elizabeth Jeffery (6 Mo)

In 1861 ^[3] the Jeffery family lived in Illogan Downs, Cornwall, England. Edward Jeffery (40) Miner & Grace Jeffery (42) with Grace Jeffery (18), Edward Jeffery (16), Catherine Jeffery (13), Elizabeth Jeffery (11), Martha Jeffery (9), Jane Jeffery (2) & Lydia Jeffery (1).

The Jeffrey family emigrated from England on board the ship Lightning in May 1865 and they arrived in Melbourne, Australia in August. ^[4] Grace Jeffery (46) with Grace Jeffery (21), Catherine Jeffery (17), Bessy Jeffery (14), Martha Jeffery (10), Jane Jeffery (8) & Lydia Jeffery (5).

Grace married Simon Jenkin in 1866 in Victoria, Australia^[5]Her sister, Catherine, married Simon's brother, James.

There is no record found of Simon Jenkin's death before her remarriage. He may have deserted her and headed interstate or overseas.

Grace Jenkin married Alfred Jenkin (a widower) on 8 March 1877 at California Gully, Victoria, Australia^[6]

In 1903 the Jenkin family lived in Epsom (Bendigo), Victoria. Alfred Jenkin (orchardist) and Grace Jenkin (home duties) with Alfred Edward Jenkin (orchardist) & Maria Elizabeth Jenknis (home duties).

Grace and Alfred also raised her nephew, Arnold Rexford Jeffrey, after the death of his parents while he was still very young.

She passed away in 1922, aged 78 ^[7]

Grace was buried at the Eaglehawk Cemetery, Mon 165. ^[8]
