"Marylinda Duncan of 446 South Hazel Street, Upper Sandusky, OH, was born April 14, 1928, in Newark Ohio to Herschel and Minnie (Carpenter) Jeffries. Marylinda died at her residence on January 29, 2007 at 7:00 a.m..
She graduated from Newark High School in 1946 and attended Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, IL before moving to North Carolina in 1949.
She married Harley Duncan in 1951 and together they pastored Fayetteville (NC) Church of the Nazarene. Between 1953 and 1980 they pastored Churches of the Nazarene in Topeka Auburndale, KS, Mound City, MO, Dresden, OH, South Point, OH, coal Grove, OH, Elyria, OH, Columbus, OH, and Ridge Chapel, Carey, OH.
Mrs. Duncan was a talented singer and pianist. Rev. and Mrs. Duncan retired to Upper Sandusky, Ohio in 1986 where they have enjoyed gardening, canning, freezing, sharing their produce and visiting in the community.
Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband and their 5 daughters.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 1, 2007 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral Service will be Friday, February 2, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene, Carey, OH with Rev. Matt Doerle and Rev. David Flack (son of former Dresden pastor) officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky, OH."[1]
Marylinda's husband began his pastorate at Dresden Church of the Nazarene (OH) on 1 August 1958. They left the Dresden church on 27 February 1961.[2]
